Alex Deane

Political analysis from the Founding Director of Big Brother Watch and David Cameron's first Chief of Staff

Alex Deane is Managing Director of Strategic Communications at the global business advisory firm FTI Consulting, and an elected Common Councilman in the City of London.

He was previously the Head of Public Affairs at Weber Shandwick.

Having practised as a criminal barrister for several years, Alex was the Founding Director of Big Brother Watch and David Cameron’s first Chief of Staff.

The work of Big Brother Watch continues to be instrumental in the government’s reforms, curbing surveillance and ending intrusion into private lives.

Alex is the author of Big Brother Watch: the state of civil liberties in modern Britain. The foreword is by Tony Benn and chapters by (inter alia) David Davis and Damian Green.

Alex advises some of the biggest companies in the UK and has trained chief executives and public personalities for the highest-profile select committee and inquiry hearings in the country.

He regularly delivers political commentary and analysis for UK and international media and is a winner of the World Debating Championships.
